Click on this picture to sign the petition! | I have decided to start some sort of project. A project involving Buddy Holly. If you're a fan of Buddy and his music, then you know that there aren't that many albums from him. Sure there are a few 'Greatest Hits' albums here and there, but just how many times have we seen 'The Very Best Of Buddy Holly'? |
I think that there should be something new, something that makes everyone involved. I want to do something that would have made Buddy proud. The idea I have in mind is a new album, but this time, I think it should be a live album. Buddy Holly: Live On Stage - It has a nice ring to it, don't you think? I am really envisioning the whole album in my mind. I'm picturing a little book of some sort, with two disks in little paper pockets; One disk is the CD, the other is the DVD. In the book there could be photographs of Buddy (many of them may I add, neatly put together with pretty effects in a pretty color scheme), accompanied by song lyrics. And in the beginning of this book (or the end), there could be paragraphs written by people who either knew him, | He looks good in them white pants, don't you think? |
or were influenced by Buddy. I'm picturing it to be kind of like Paul McCartney's "Good Evening New York City" album. It's pretty amazing the way it is 'set up'. That'd be one heck of a good looking Buddy Holly Album, if it ever happens that is. The CD track list is simple. A collection of live audio of Buddy performing live, as well as interviews is what I dream for. But it shouldn't be just quickly put together - The audio should be enhanced and sound as if you were watching him live. Imagine the loud sound of his Stratocaster, the happiness in his voice. That's how I want others to feel - Like they are there, at a concert, seeing Buddy Holly in person. |
Imagine the excitement that the people at that time must've felt. I want to know how that feels, to see your favorite performer play your favorite songs in front of you. This is what I want to accomplish with this project; I want there to be a chance for us who were not alive when he was to hear and see him for real. And I want the older generation to see this album and say 'I remember. I remember when I saw him in '57. It was beyond words'. But this is just a dream. It is not reality. But we can turn this dream into reality if we work together. |
| This kind of project is difficult. We need to have many people involved in order to be heard. We need to raise our voices and tell the copyright holders (that own the rights to Buddy Holly), that we want this. We want to do this for one person and one person only, and that person is Buddy. This whole idea came from him, his music and his talent inspired me to create this petition. All I am asking you is to sign the petition if you want this to come true. If you are a fan of him and you want this to happen, don't sit there and think 'what if'. Please, your signature counts. If we get enough signatures, maybe Maria Elena Holley or Paul McCartney will take this to their consideration. It can come true, only if we work together. If you sign it, thank you so much for your support. Spread the word about it using the hashtag #thebuddyhollyproject on Twitter and elsewhere. Make Paul and Maria aware of this, because we need their approval. After all, it's their say whether this album can be done or not. At least we tried. But for now, all we need is supporters. Because we're doing this for Buddy, our buddy that got taken away from us too soon. |
This is for you Buddy. I hope you know that I'm doing this to honor you. You are not forgotten, there are people who still love you. You are deeply missed. Your music will forever 'Rave On' and you will always remain my musical hero. Thank you Charles Hardin Holley for everything that you have done. Thank you for bringing so much happiness to me. I love you and I miss you.
Thank you once more.
Buddy Holly will never Fade Away.
